There are many programs to assist addicts, but few programs to assist the family. The family of an addict is often traumatized. They are left with questions that no one can answer. Why is my loved one an addict? How can I help? What is codependency? Many times the family is left feeling guilty.

There are many types of addictions including sex, work, drugs, smoking and alcohol. "Rewriting Life Scripts" covers a wide range of topics all linked to addiction. Much is said about the dysfunctional family. I found the charts of particular interest. One chart demonstrates the conflict over our wants and our needs. Another chart breaks down the role of members in the family. The chapter on boundaries is invaluable. Chapter 9 is dedicated to success stories.

This book is aptly named. We must 'rewrite the script' we are living. Change begins within us. I highly recommend this book. It is written in an easy to understand style. The organization is perfect. At last, a book that will help families!
