Roar: Primed for Peace; Self Heal Trauma for Health, Happiness & Harmony is a work of non-fiction focusing on the transformation of the self. It is best suited to the general adult reading audience owing to a non-explicit discussion of mature themes such as abuse recovery, and it was penned by author Sophia M. Elan. In this heartfelt work which seeks to bring harmony to others after undergoing some very difficult times in their lives, the author expresses their own journey with unresolved trauma, dangerous coping mechanisms, and some of the most profound lows a human being can ever experience. What results is an epiphany and a philosophy on life that finally achieves true healing, and can be of great inspiration to others.

Author Sophia M. Elan writes with a courageously raw narrative that speaks volumes as to how far she’s come on her own healing journey, for no non-fiction writer would be able to admit so much with such clarity and honesty if she still had excuses or resolutions to make. This adds much credence to the philosophies which she has developed for healing, which are clearly described and easy to relate to once you understand the core principles of self-love and self-respect. From here, Elan takes the narrative forward in a really logical step-by-step of building up one’s own limitless existence, letting go of traumas, and replacing them with independent love, conquest, and respect. Overall, Roar: Primed for Peace is a fierce work of emotionally resonant writing that is sure to uplift and help anyone who reads it.

This book was very raw, and heartfelt. My heart goes out to the writer who experienced so much trauma from a young age and overcame it with strength and courage. Bravo Sophia- may you find peace in your life now along with many blessings. I hope you are able to continue your journey and help all those who may have similar experiences.

A compelling emotional read. I particularly liked how uplifting this book is distinguished from some heavier books on the sensitive subject of abuse. This courageously vulnerable story provides unique insights into the trauma psyche as well as inspiration and practical guidance for healing. Spoiler alert - happy ending/“beginning” which is the way I love all stories to finish.

John E. Eagelston

Such a compelling read! Beautifully written. Raw, insightful and transformational. As I read Sophia’s account of her life journey, my empathy turned into admiration - Progressing from self-awareness to analysis; and ultimately conquering her behaviors utilizing neuroplasticity. Her journey should be an inspiration to anyone traveling the same path. The tools she has and continues to use provides the blueprint to a healthier and happy life. I always knew she had this gift, I am happy she unwrapped it and living happily ever now. Highly recommend! I look forward to reading her other books.

The word unique applies to very few people. It applies to Elan. For anyone who has lived alone and longed for "the right" life partner, Elan inspires us at the end with the conclusion (not really a spoiler) that loving others fearlessly and, most importantly, loving oneself... is the recipe for happiness. It's the globetrotting adventures, set-backs, trauma and triumphs Elan lived along the way that make her story so riveting. I think the future is bright for this unique and inspiring author.

Margo Weinstein

Raw, intimate and vulnerable memoir. The self-proclaimed Naked Conquerer, Elan somehow survived abuse and terrible choices. In her raw, intimate and vulnerable memoir, Elan describes the cycle of repeated patterns of abusive relationships (childhood sexual abuse, attempted murder by her first husband) and numbing behaviors (two overdose attempts and a lot of alcohol). Elan holds nothing back, and at times I felt like shaking her, or at least pulling her aside to advise against the latest bad relationship or decision. But she has led an accomplished and interesting life, despite the problems she faced. And with this book, she bares all as a final step in her recovery. Roar is Elan healing and it may help others heal themselves.

Carol McCarthy

Great read with tools to heal. Elan writes with such detail that I can visualize it happening. She has been through so much and continues to forge ahead with a huge capacity to love and forgive. She is a warrior at heart for all she has been through and to have the tenacity to figure out how to heal holistically. I highly recommend this book to anyone struggling to heal, whatever the issue may be, as Elan will provide you with tools to help you on your healing path.

Very well written. Highly recommend!

Sophia's ability to feel deeply is in her presence. I was lucky enough to meet her and I will say this depth and peace she mentions in her book almost comes off of her in waves. I am grateful for her confident, happy, loving and receptive vibe. While I do believe these qualities are often forged in the fires trauma, Sophia makes it evident there is beauty on the other side. What is so impressive in Sophia's writing is this inward look focuses on who she is and not what has happened to her. Even when recounting traumatic experience Sophia walks us through her thoughts always climbing toward the light. The ability to reflect and know herself is a super power and sharing it with other trauma survivors is a gift. Like talking with an old friend. She writes in a way that allows others space in her book and I found myself thinking "Me too!" and "I'd never thought of it like that before." Sophia's example of self love gives us permission to love ourselves while at the same time reminding us that this ability has always been there and we have always deserved it.

Alexandre Martine

Elan courageously, vulnerably recounts a lifetime of abuses to answer the question why trauma cannot be left unresolved and insightfully shares her journey of personal healing. It appears that just beneath her outward appearance of a carefree life lay her tortured soul waiting to be rescued. Through frank introspection and determination, Elan triumphantly conquered her demons, paving the way for an authentic happy, fulfilled life. “Roar” is an intimate insight into the trauma psyche, suicidal inclinations, and PTSD, topics often considered to taboo for thoughtful discussion. As Elan says “healing doesn’t happen in silence or solitude.” “Roar” not only ends happily for Elan, but may very well pave the way for others who have experienced trauma to “live happily ever now” too.
