Same Starry Sky by Erin Christie is a beautiful story about the challenges faced by the families who have a parent deployed in the military. The child in the story feels sad when her father goes away on duty. His presence is missed because there is no one to tell her stories about the starry sky. No matter where the father has gone, the starry sky is the same and the child sees the same big star always. The starry sky comforts the child, holds her tight, and keeps her safe. She closes her eyes, and dreams through the night ... to wake up the next morning and see that her dream has come true. Let us connect the dots to our star and go to sleep peacefully at night!

The author handles the concept of staying connected in a whimsical manner using stars in a starry sky. It is a story about family bonding and love, which is tangible to readers. The illustrations are enchanting and they make the concept and the author’s words clear to young readers. It is a wonderful bedtime storybook for children and is also a good story for read aloud and storytelling sessions in classrooms and school libraries because of the message it conveys. For many children, the experience of the child in the story will be real and relatable, and the technique to go to sleep at night might help them to sleep well like the child in the book. The author spreads love and warmth to young readers through this adorable story.
