Children who love animals will enjoy this underwater adventure. Save the Shark highlights reptiles and fish that live in the ocean. Add some predators and unsafe living conditions and it becomes an interesting story of survival. Save the Shark is the newest book in the Save the Earth series designed to increase our awareness of the plight of sharks and the pollution of our oceans. Author/illustrator Bethany Stahl introduces us to marine life but then explores two of the many problems facing sharks and explains how their numbers are dwindling. Then she shows us how people can help sharks. First, we need to remove water bottles, straws, and other garbage from all bodies of water and come up with ways to reduce the amount of litter. Sometimes, sharks get caught in fishing nets so we need to educate fishermen to make sure sharks are released right away. We also need to make sure old nets and fishing lines are properly disposed of.

Children will enjoy the illustrations and marine life featured in Save the Sharks, but teachers and parents will benefit from the subtle education and awareness of dwindling shark numbers. Save the Sharks is another book in the Save the Earth series by author/illustrator Bethany Stahl.
