Saving Euphoria is the second novel in the Euphoria series by C. Becker. Things have not been the same since Mark died. Hailey and her children struggle to find their footing after losing an integral part of their family. Teenage rebellion is the last thing on her mind, but as a mother, Hailey has to put her grief aside to focus on her remaining family. However, things are not that simple. Hailey is struggling even more now that Tom Parker is back in her life. Not only does he want to get back together, but he also seems to harbor some secrets that can destroy the Langleys if Hailey is not careful. Tom’s offer is tempting, and the notion of another chance at love does sound nice. But there has to be a catch. With the Mendoza drug lord and his goons after her, will she even get a second chance at love?
Hailey is such a complicated character. Her job as a science instructor clashes with her struggles with the Mendoza drug lord. In Saving Euphoria, author C. Becker did a fantastic job of creating an atmosphere filled with suspense, mystery, teenage drama, romance, and action. Mark’s mysterious death leaves a mark on Hailey’s life and mind, but her urge to support Anna and Ethan drives her to push everything aside to focus on her children. It took me a long time to warm up to Tom’s character. However, as the story progressed, I understood him more and appreciated his presence in the story. The narrative switches from one point of view to another, which adds to the complexity of the plot and allows readers to look at the mystery from different angles. The twists and turns are unpredictable and mind-boggling at times. I loved this novel.
