In Saving Sophie by Debbie Schrack, Gabe always wants to be the best of the best and wonders what his purpose in life is. Six months ago, his brother Josh was responsible for an accident in which four people lost their lives, and Gabe cannot forgive him for that. Since the accident, Gabe has been struggling, and school has been his sanctuary. For his senior service project, he has to tutor a math student. The student is Sophie, the only survivor of the accident. He knows his purpose is to help her and he feels responsible for his brother’s mistake. She lives with her uncle and aunt and needs a service dog to alert her when seizures are coming. Gabe falls in love with Sophie and is afraid he will lose her when he tells her the truth about the accident.

Saving Sophie by Debbie Schrack has an exciting and twisting plot. The story is very emotional, and every character was struggling with something. The pace was not too fast and picked up toward the end with enough twists and turns to make it interesting. There was enough action and suspense to keep me intrigued. The events unfolded genuinely and naturally, there was never a dull moment, and I was on the edge of my seat from the beginning. I was fascinated by the events and wanted to keep reading. I was eager to see what would happen next. The character development is really good. The characters and events felt real, and I could relate to them. Saving Sophie is well written and gripping to read.
