Scarred Soul of a Grieving Daughter: Inspired by True Events is a work of fiction in the psychological thriller and interpersonal drama sub-genres and was penned by author Bette J. Hepler. A deeply emotive read with plenty of family drama and authentic narrative voice, this is the tale of a woman dealing with the sudden, tragic loss of her father, but also her developmental changes when she comes face to face with his killer. What results is a true-life style narrative that takes us deep into the protagonist’s mind and into a transformation one can only learn by being put through such terrible trauma.
Author Bette J. Hepler has crafted a fascinating psychological thriller that fans of the genre are sure to get into even from its very first pages. The story is one that draws you in owing to the strength of character of the protagonist, Alease. This concise and intense novel is layered with lots of different parts of life that Alease needs to juggle, all whilst trying to come to terms with the violent death of her father. The narrative skill of the author draws us in very close to present Alease’s many thoughts and feelings as she takes action against the killer, which really ramps up the tension but also gives the novel its grounding emotional sensitivity and solid sense of realism. Overall, I would highly recommend Scarred Soul of a Grieving Daughter as an accomplished thriller work for fans of the genre and those seeking true to life tales.
