Seasons: Autumn and Winter: Expressions of Gratitude and Merry Moments by Cheryl E Rodriguez is a collection of short autobiographical stories and moments from Cheryl’s own life and experiences. As the title suggests, Seasons: Autumn and Winter is a collection of prose about all things that are commonly associated with the fall and winter seasons in the United States. Each short chapter contains a story about a particular topic related to this theme such as travel, hopes and dreams, music, football, Thanksgiving, Christmas, forgiveness, parties, winter wonderland, joy, and more. These stories are all autobiographical and relate to moments and memories from Cheryl’s life.

Seasons: Autumn and Winter: Expressions of Gratitude and Merry Moments by Cheryl E Rodriguez is an interesting read and the format of the book is somewhat unique. Although Seasons: Autumn and Winter is a non-fiction book of stories, each story in this book is only a page or two long, contains quotes from various sources, and in fact some of the stories feel more like poetry than prose. That being said, there is an overall sense of joy, gratefulness, and peace through this book and a lesson in how to find joy in the little daily things in life and all seasons of life. The writing style is soothing and genuine which makes the stories stand out, even though they appear to be simplistic at first glance. Overall, there is a message of hope and peace that comes through this book and I enjoyed reading it.

Seasons: Autumn and Winter – Expressions of Gratitude and Merry Moments by Cheryl E Rodriguez is a book sharing her own special moments. Cheryl Rodriguez invites the reader into her world, her life, and proceeds to inspire and encourage through her words. She compares life to seasons. Joy. Happiness. Tragedy. Grief. Family. Friends. Many wonderful memories are included, along with some that for the sake of our emotional well-being get locked away. Anxiety is a trap which ensnares many of us and, despite our efforts to avoid stress, it can and will steal our peace of mind if we cannot focus on positive ventures, or in this case enigmatic, empowering and uplifting tales. Cheryl caringly covers two seasons and shares a myriad of things for which we can all be thankful. Her stories are relatable and fun; many we will have experienced ourselves, a few not. Her work is beautifully written and issues strength through being thankful in all things.

I found the book a very easy read. I could identify with many of the life moments she covers. A few examples are family; travel; grief; friends; second chances and many more. She points to biblical truths and plain common sense ideals to ensure life does not become burdensome. Cheryl Rodriguez encourages the reader to never give up, but to find strength in the often mundane, everyday events that are experienced by many of us. Like me, you will see similarities throughout the chapters and will discover how to break the negatives with words of thankfulness, and gratitude for the miracle of life. Recommended. Uplifting. Inspiring.
