She Doesn't Want The Worms book is perfect for the bilingual family. It is written in both English and Spanish. My review is on the English version.

The plot revolves around a girl offered various gifts of living creatures. Snakes, worms, snails, and scorpions are just a few of the gifts the girl refuses to touch. The reader is never sure who is offering the girl such unique gifts. Her reaction is funny and well illustrates the reaction most little girls have to creepy crawly things. The end of the book shows a plate loaded with food. My interpretation of the plot is a simple one. The person was offering the girl food. The girl was a very picky eater and imagined the gifts were real creatures although they were just food. On the plate is various foods that look like the creepy crawly things; such as a sausage that looks like a snake and a cinnamon roll that looks like a snail.

The rhythmic cadence of the text is pleasing to the ear of children. The illustrations are whimsical with bright colors. Students studying Spanish will find this book very helpful in studying a wide variety of words. I gave this book the grandchild test. Maddox loved the illustrations. He liked the creepy crawly things but said he would not touch them either. He asked me to read the story to him several times. I think the best way to judge a children's book is through a child's reaction. Maddox gave this book a five.
