After my career with the FBI, I wanted to write a book of strength and inspiration. Sir Thomas of Creekside came from this desire and culminated into a heartwarming tale of a young boy creating a world within his own reality to help cope with tragedy and danger. Nobody should have to live in fear, especially a child. They should be able to experience a childhood of innocence, and if the evil of the world encroaches upon their own, they should learn to draw deep and use every last fiber of strength they have to fight, and never give up.

Sir Thomas of Creekside by G.L. Garrett is the story of a seven-year-old boy and his teddy bear as they find themselves away from home, stranded in the dangerous Creekside Woods. Thomas Bristol always wanted to be a knight. After his father's passing, Thomas' love for medieval stories leads him and his bear, Teddy, to the woods where adventure awaits. But the Creekside Woods is no ordinary place as danger lurks at every turn. With the help of their friends, Thomas and Teddy must evade the monstrous dragon they call 'The Screech.' Meanwhile, Detective Claire Spillen and her partner Detective Bushner follow Thomas's trail through the woods. But they must hurry as a nefarious predator is on the prowl and is getting closer and closer to capturing Thomas.
By narrating the story through the eyes of a seven-year-old, G.L. Garrett captures the vivid imagination and wonder of a child's point of view of their world. For Thomas, Creekside Woods is a place for adventure, where he might finally prove himself to his friends as a knight. In reality, he is running away, trying to cope with the loss of his father, and unwittingly entering an environment of grave danger. The characters feel like people you may have encountered in real life. Thomas is an immensely adorable child, and his dynamic with his friends, especially his bear, brings a wholesome charm to the tale.
