Size Zero: Visage by Abigail Mangin is a dark and unique murder mystery that will make you hold your breath and anticipate the next turn in the plot. When model Ava walked down the runway wearing a coat made from human skin, she had no idea she would be in this much trouble. Turns out, the coat is made from the skin of a girl called Annabelle Leigh who disappeared over a decade ago. However, things take an even darker turn when her agent’s son Cecil receives Annabelle’s severed hand in the mail. Ava and Cecil decide to investigate the matter and try to find out what happened to poor Annabelle. But things in the fashion industry are dangerous and murky at best. Can these two find out what happened? Or will they become the next victim of high fashion as well?

Satirical and incredibly well-handled, Size Zero: Visage is a story that will keep you up at night. The plot is very intriguing and the characters are even more so. Cecil is a charming man; he knows how to grab the reader's attention and divert it when it suits him. Ava, on the other hand, is very transparent. She wears her heart on her sleeve and has a hard time hiding what she is going through from the rest of the world. She is sarcastic, a little bit sassy and unafraid to speak her mind; all of the qualities that I enjoy in a lead character. She and Cecil make a good team. They are surprisingly clinical, observant and intelligent. They navigate the highs and lows of the fashion industry remarkably well. The author did a good job in not only getting my attention but keeping me hooked. I read this in one sitting and didn’t put it down. This is a must-read story for people who enjoy suspense.
