Sometimes I’m An Athlete by Mike Enfield is a beautiful and colorful children’s picture book that shows the daily activities a child engages in and enjoys at various times. The illustrations by Jessica PF Stricklan are a wonderful way for a child to visually enjoy and understand the story. Sometimes I’m An Athlete relates many ideas from a typical day at school, from doing homework to watching TV and playing sports. The easy to read pages allow children to read either on their own or follow along with an older sibling or adult.

Sometimes I’m An Athlete shares some wonderful concepts of a child’s life in a manner that is easy for a youngster to read and understand while reading or just look at the pictures as someone reads it to them. The characters are easy for a child to identify with, especially with the illustrations that match every page perfectly. I especially love that the plot of the story shows a child the different activities in an exciting light that encourages them to try something new with a focus on sports. I loved Sometimes I’m An Athlete because it shows young children that exercise is fun and exciting with words that are easy for a young mind to read and understand. I recommend Enfield and Stricklan’s picture book to anyone who has young children of a learning age at home, in preschool and even in the early elementary years.
