An ancient forgotten prophecy is fulfilled within a dark cave high in the Jaar Mountains. Jena Bain, desperate and alone, gives birth to three sons. Their birth is just the beginning of an epic journey that pits a dark and evil ruler against fate. Davian Ul has immense powers and is trying to gain more to become Master Mahan. Davian is trying to manipulate the prophecies for his own selfish gain. Now the Alliance of Kingdoms must try to return peace to the realm, or suffer under the evil ruler's dominion.

If you're looking for a new epic fantasy novel, look no further than the Sons of Prophecy series. In Volume One: Davian's Deception, the threads of a major series are set in place. Steve Schmutz is an excellent writer and he's able to capture the tone, feel, and imagery of the genre like any of the true masters.

The plot was a lot of fun. It jumps around quite a bit more than I usually like, but I had no problem following all the twists and turns. I really liked that I couldn't guess exactly where the story was going. I would think that something would happen, but then Steve Schmutz would mix it up and I would be like..."Where did THAT come from??" I will give you a warning though, there is an AWFUL cliffhanger at the end. If you are the kind of person who hates cliffhangers, try to get your hands on book two before you start book one or you will have a very anxious time until you can find it.
