Speak Easy: A Short Guide to a Great Speech by Barry Potyondi is a guide to speaking in public that helps you out from step one. Any great speech takes a lot of prep work, and this book details it in steps easy enough for even the novice speech writer to understand and master easily. From outlining a speech, to the prep work needed for saying it out loud, to defining the qualities of a good speech, this book is chock full of useful information that will be able to help anyone at any age as they move through the perils of public speaking.

Speak Easy: A Short Guide to a Great Speech is the perfect read for those of you who never quite got the hang of it in your high school Public Speaking class. Barry Potyondi has some excellent points that helped me out personally (which will come in handy at my sister's wedding in the spring!). One of the best points that really made sense to me was the defining expectations of good speeches as Clarity, Brevity, and Engagement. These were all logical and made sense, and Potyondi made his points clearly and with great definition and a dry sort of humor that made his ideas somewhat entertaining. One of the best parts was also that Barry asked some tougher questions. Instead of spouting out all the answers, he asks the reader "How" and "Why" so that when the reader writes their own speech, they will understand the deeper meaning of what they are doing.
