Following a tragedy that took a life, the elusive Garen Van Buren became fiercely protective of his son, Jacob. Garen stayed away from home but hired a live-in teacher, Jillian Randall, to homeschool his five-year-old son. Jacob and Jillian developed a relationship like mother and son and couldn't bear to be without each other. When a false alarm brought Garen back home, he came face to face with Jillian. It was love at first sight. But with roses came thorns. Garen, the CEO of Van Buren Cargo and Shipping, lived a complicated and dangerous life. Head over heels, Jillian walked into chaos marinated in lies, secrets, trafficking, the Mafia, and crimes. Will Garen and Jillian live happily ever after? Find out in Spun Web by S. L. Van.

Spun Web by S. L. Van was a captivating mix of romance, crime, love, and family. The plot was unpredictable, and the story took me on an emotional ride. I'm sure that this novel will appeal to lovers of dangerous romance. This story was indeed a spun web because everyone had a link to the next person. The world is a small place. Dmitry, Alec, and Garen's situations reiterated why we should separate business from family. Jacob was such a sweetheart, and Jillian was the perfect heroine. My highlight of the novel was the aspect of spousal/partner abuse and how people endure it for various reasons. How do we identify abuse, especially when it's not physical? At what point do we say enough and walk away? What are the next steps for abuse survivors? This book was immersive and enlightening.
