Spy by Harold J Fischel is the story of a US military major who tried to do his job and still keep his personal goals, but life had other plans for him. Major Matthaeus Ramsey was stationed in Iraq when he met the most beautiful woman in his life. Her charm and her personality just drew him in and soon they were madly in love. However, things go downhill for them both when Matt is charged with treason. Both of them are taken in for questioning and while Matt powers through the trial, she does not. Now looking for a new start, Matt believes that he has a right to live but not to love. Life as a civilian is better than he expected; however, when his present needs a little help from his past life, Matt cannot help but get back into his old ways and try to give love a second chance. He is scared to love, but can he do it?

Action-packed, with high intensity and loaded with plenty of development, this novel is one that will keep you up at night and beg you to finish it before you sleep. Matt is a highly complex and very demanding character. He needs your attention so that you can make your own assumptions in figuring him out, finding out what he really means and is he really what you believe him to be. He has layer upon layer of traits that made him a very dear character to me. The flow was great; he almost nurtures the story and makes it stand out. The narrative was smooth; it added essence to the story and made it entertaining. All in all, this is a very enjoyable novel that I hope has a sequel in the future.
