Stand Firm to be Free! by Jan Schaffner is a concise guide filled with incredible insights and thought-provoking ideas. To gain the maximum benefit from the book, you have to be willing to dig deep into your heart and answer the questions posed with brutal honesty. I loved how the book is sectioned into 30 days; the prayers and affirmations were incredible, especially Day 2 where you call upon the Holy Spirit into your life. There are so many 'aha' moments in this book that would help anyone re-establish a relationship with God. The analysis of The Lord's Prayer enabled me to finally understand the message behind the words. The book will not only inspire you to be the best of yourself but will motivate you to reignite your spiritual side, knowing you are a unique being with a unique calling to fulfill. Many people pray but this book teaches you how to pray effectively and believe in God to deliver what is best for you. “For we walk by faith, not by sight!” Superb.

Stand Firm to be Free! Volume I by Jan Schaffner is a life-changing, thirty-day devotional that examines the gift of freedom according to biblical passages. Jan Schaffner shares how freedom can be achieved and preserved. Faith, wholeness, identity, forgiveness, and more are other topics discussed in the devotional. On day six, the devotional explains the Father’s love and shares scriptures from which the topic is derived. The chapter starts with some questions for introspection. It explains the importance of understanding God’s character so as to build a true and healthy relationship with God. On day twenty-five (standing firm in your favor), the chapter begins by defining what favor is and further examines what the term means from a biblical perspective.

Stand Firm to be Free! is an amazing read. It reminded me of the promises contained in the Bible, specifically, the promise of freedom. By including different scriptural passages, the devotional provides an extensive foundation for the discussions in the book. Jan Schaffner also writes in an encouraging tone and explores other promises related to, or founded on, the promise of freedom in every area of life. The discussions helped me view scriptural passages in different enlightening ways than I had done before. The prayers, dedications, and exercises included at the end of each day were helpful in internalizing the information and in applying it in everyday life. Stand Firm to be Free! by Jan Schaffner is an encouraging and practical devotional that focuses on utilizing biblical promises to experience freedom.

Stand Firm to be Free: Volume 1 by Jan Schaffner is a 30-day plan for Christians to find personal freedom by standing firm in the concepts outlined in the Bible. Using Galatians 5:1, Schaffner explains that true freedom can be found when faith is placed in Jesus Christ, and following the advice offered in Scripture. Freedom doesn't mean doing whatever you want. Rather, freedom comes with living a life that relies on Christ and standing firm in the Word of God. The book is presented in a way that engages you, with a 30-day planner concept that helps you think about your spiritual growth and how you can stand firm day by day, or return to a faith that may have weakened with mistakes, cares of the world, illness, fears, doubts, or life experiences. By standing firm, you will begin to feel free again.

The author uses her expertise and experience in leading a spiritual healing ministry to reach Christians of all walks and stages--new and established alike. One thing Schaffner does that Christians can appreciate is that she always grounds her advice and writing in the Bible; not necessarily on other quasi-Christian works or beliefs. When you use the Bible for the foundation, more Christians will have that common reference point. Each day that is outlined is a devotional with encouragement, followed by a prayer. To involve you in a personal way, there are journal-like questions that you can ponder and answer by filling in the blanks. Stand Firm to be Free: Volume 1 by Jan Schaffner is a serious book for Christians searching for freedom or a stronger footing.
