Marine Warrant Officer David Sweet is nearing retirement that will have to wait. Sweet is ordered on a mission with an elite unit to seek out someone from Sweet’s past, a woman who is as deadly as she is beautiful, a woman he thought long dead. Amina Jabouri, who once saved Sweet’s life, has changed. Now she has become dangerously radicalized and appears to plot with America's enemies. Since Sweet knows her very well, he is assigned to bring her in, alive if possible. But as so often happens, things as never quite what they seem in Sweet's experience. Someone has decided it would be better if they are both dead and buried. Sweet and Amina find themselves alone in the war savaged city, trying their best to survive against enemies from every side. With treachery to be found everywhere, Sweet must decide who he can trust and who his true allies are before a deadly plot is formulated and thousands die.

Steel on Target by Michael W. Romanowski is a thrill ride from beginning to end, a story of combat, intrigue, and deceit. I found Steel on Target to be a strong, exciting, and riveting read. The action sequences are very well written and the suspense and drama keep the reader's attention. The reader can almost feel like they’re on the streets of Baghdad. The plot is first rate, bold and strong, filled with conspiracies, deceit, and death. The characters, both good and bad, were satisfactorily portrayed, and the story line of Sweet and Amina was nicely developed. A very good book indeed.
