Stuck in a Tree by Diane De Young is Jackson's story. Jackson decides to turn a deaf ear to his parents' warnings and climb a tree in his backyard. He wanted to see how his backyard looks from the top of a tree. As he reaches the top, he realizes the ground is too far away and he gets scared. He calls out to his parents to help him get down. Jackson comes in contact with many animals that reside in the tree - the striped tiger cat, the gray squirrel, a blue jay, baby owls and others. The book teaches children to obey the rules set down by their parents.

It is a charming story which is educational and teaches kids a lot of new things - the messages are conveyed very subtly. The illustrations are bright and colorful and they give personality to all the characters and also movement and life to the story. It makes a good bedtime story and one that parents and grandparents will find useful. The book is also good for read aloud sessions in school libraries and classrooms.

The story, with all the animals, color and vibrancy, will appeal to kids and capture their attention. Whether it is the cat, owls, bees or squirrel, the author has made Jackson's time on top of the tree interesting and exciting. The message conveyed through the story is very useful to make children understand the importance of obeying their parents.
