Sun Storm by Marlow Kelly is a story of determination, survival, and passion. Dedicated scientist Dr. Marie Wilson has spent years tucked away in a self-funded, isolated garage lab while designing her solar panel prototype. She thinks Montana will be the perfect place to test her product and redeem her reputation for having half-baked (previously stolen) ideas. As she tries to keep warm in her newly-rented cabin, she has no idea of the terror she’s about to face. PDE’s president, Marshall Portman, wants that prototype and dispatches a hit squad to get it. Ex-decorated soldier David Quinn thinks he’s been hired for one thing only; to retrieve a stolen prototype. When he realizes the other men plan to kill the terrified woman, his protective instincts kick in and the battle begins. PDE is powerful and David and Marie can trust no one. The bickering opposites make quite a team, and during their quest for survival they discover that their desire for each other is much more than either of them can resist.

This is an exciting story full of red-hot love scenes, fast-paced action, and I was drawn in immediately. The cover and title for Sun Storm couldn’t be more perfect. There is something around every corner and I had a hard time putting this adrenaline-filled story down. Lonely, but determined souls, Marie and David are such kind-hearted, likable characters that you can’t help but cheer them on the whole way through. With solid writing and plot, Sun Storm contains just the right balance of romance and suspense to satisfy your need for a great novel. A marvelous read you’ll undoubtedly recommend to your fellow readers and book club members. Five stars!

Sun Storm: The Gathering Storm Series, Book One is a romantic suspense novel written by Marlow Kelly. Marie had not been prepared for the utter chill of a Montana winter when she hatched the idea of renting a rustic cottage in the wilderness to show her prototype solar panel to Professor Hargreaves. The Montana Tech professor had expressed some interest in her design, and demonstrating its usefulness under blizzard conditions would be a dramatic, if somewhat foolhardy - in retrospect - way of doing so. She had traveled to Granite City, Montana, rented a small car and driven, it seemed for hours, on treacherous ice-covered roads.

After a sleepless and shiver-filled night, she found even lighting the fire in the fireplace to be a challenge for cold and numb fingers. Any thoughts of warmth vanished, however, when four armed men burst into the one-room house. The lead man was impossibly good-looking, and he was followed by two squat and brutish twin brothers. But the man who really caught her attention was the last one in -- his light green eyes were flat and had the thousand-yard stare of a killer, and his cheek was creased by a deep scar. He seemed to be communicating with her in a way that was different from the others, whose minds were set on getting her invention and killing her. Could she trust him? Did she have a choice?

Marlow Kelly’s romantic suspense novel, Sun Storm: The Gathering Storm Series, Book One is a fast-paced and exciting read that was impossible to put down. I loved learning about the technical aspects of Marie’s invention and enjoyed seeing how she and David work to escape a deadly and determined enemy. Kelly’s plot is ingenious and fairly brims with unexpected twists and turns, and her characters are well defined and credible. I especially liked how the author brings Marie's and David’s past lives into perspective and allows her characters to reach into themselves for solutions to their situation. Sun Storm: The Gathering Storm Series, Book One is an entertaining thriller of a read, and I’m looking forward to future books in this series. It’s most highly recommended.

Sun Storm (The Gathering Storm Book 1) by Marlow Kelly is a fictional novel charting the tale of Dr Marie Wilson and her unique portable solar panel that has the potential to solve the world's energy problems. Forced to go in search of funding to further the project, she encounters powerful forces who do not wish to see her succeed. While testing out her new design in the wilds of Montana she suffers a home invasion by a team of men. One of the attackers, an ex-Special Forces soldier, David Quinn, is one of the invaders. Employed by his old mentor to retrieve a solar panel, David realises at the last moment that the assignment is wrong on all levels. He turns against his colleagues and makes the decision to help Marie instead.

Marlow Kelly has written an action-packed thriller brim full of all the qualities of a really good book. Action, romance and an environmental plot line is the perfect blend for the modern day reader. The fast-paced military aspects mingled with the intoxicating dynamics between the two main characters leave the reader wanting more. While Marie is vulnerable and feisty, David has the solidity and stubbornness of ex-Special Forces. Romance doesn't come easily to either of them and they have a turbulent relationship. Sun Storm is about the ethical good guys fighting high powered corporate and police corruption. It is about family, relationships and love. I thoroughly enjoyed it from beginning to end and look forward to the next book in the series.
