Watch out, bad guys! The American President, John Smith, has developed some amazing super powers and is ready to take on even the toughest terrorists! SuperPOTUS by Robert Herzfeld begins with President Smith waking up one morning only to discover he can twist like a pretzel and jump clear up to the ceiling. As he shares this information with his two best friends, his Chief of Staff and the Political Director, crazy schemes and experiments come to mind to determine exactly how strong, fast, and damage-proof the President really is. President Smith gets to show off his abilities when he rescues a cat from a tree, prevents an assassination at the Saudi Arabian Embassy, and saves his own family from an all-out attack. Imagine the country’s surprise when they get to see the President hovering outside the cockpit of a news helicopter! Things get really exciting, though, when POTUS is kidnapped by the head terrorist, Al Qitta. Will all his super powers get him out of this jam or is his term in office at an end?

Engaging and quite humorous, SuperPOTUS by Robert Herzfeld treats serious issues light-heartedly for kids to understand. Key concepts as well as amusing notes are handled in footnotes so vocabulary terms related to government and other interesting facts are not lost for younger readers. The characters are likeable, the pace is just right, and everyone will cheer along with the antics of this super powered President. SuperPOTUS is a great choice for young readers who like fantasy and action all rolled up in an enjoyable story.

Great Book for Teens and Adults! August 12, 2015
This book is definitely worth the read, even for adults. It was entertaining from the start and kept me laughing! After reading 25+ books over 2 years for a statewide teen reader's book award program, I believe this one needs to be a contender for next year's awards program. Not only was it funny throughout, the footnotes were absolutely hilarious. It also provides a bit of entertaining education, by giving readers information on government, the President, and history. Kids won't even know they are learning because they will enjoy it! Among my favorite parts was the "head over heels" makes no sense footnote. Now every time someone says that phrase, I'm going to picture the person doing nothing but standing up! It's also a quick read, even on Kindle, as the footnotes are easy to navigate.

My 15-year old and I both enjoyed this book. While it is fun and funny, it's also chock full of educational asides that are themselves presented in a fun and funny manner.

What a fun, educational read! If I taught middle school Super POTUS would be on the reading list! Funny footnotes, historical trivia and a great introduction to the president's role.
