Ooo...Ooo...Ooo! Is it bad that all I can do is make delighted sounds as I am preparing to write my review for Switch-A-Wish by author M.B. Earnheardt? I hope not, because I did, and this book certainly deserves all of my excitement! This is the story of married couple Chris and Amanda Claridge, a familiar couple to many of us: perfect seeming on the outside, resentful and unhappy on the inside. Handsome Chris is a college professor, pretty Amanda stays home with the couple's family. The two are headed for a divorce until they magically find themselves truly in the other's shoes the morning after making a wish for that very thing to happen. Through this unusual experience, they are each able to gain an understanding and appreciation for the other that wouldn't have been possible otherwise. Will their love for each other return as well? You'll have to read the book to find out!

I loved this book. Loved. It. The storyline grabbed me from page one and wouldn't let go. Author M.B. Earnheardt was able to delve deep into the heart of many marital problems, our inability to appreciate fully what the other does for us, and present that problem in an oh-so-readable way. Any reader who enjoys a fun read of women's fiction, chick lit, or just a great read in general should absolutely buy this book. I highly recommend Switch-A-Wish and will have my eyes peeled to see when M.B. Earnheardt's next book will be released. I, for one, will be in line to buy it as soon as I possibly can!

Switch-A-Wish is a women’s fiction novel written by M.B. Earnheardt. Chris and Amanda were best friends as well as lovers before they married. He was the only man she had ever been intimate with, and they took advantage of every opportunity, and even invented some opportunities, to make love. When they married, it seemed the natural extension of that fairytale relationship. Now he’s a college professor whose focus is fixed on being appointed the chair of his department, and she’s a stay-at-home mom with two young children and an infant. Chris is still crazy about her and his sex drive is as healthy as ever, but Amanda’s really not that interested in sex anymore, that is, unless she can get him to agree to making yet another baby. Amanda’s also been thinking more and more often about getting a divorce, and Chris has been fighting what seems to be a losing battle with his attraction to an attractive co-ed who’s been taking his courses for years. They both secretly think they need marriage counseling to make things work again, but neither of them feels safe enough to broach the subject. Then everything changes when they wake up in each other’s bodies.

M.B. Earnheardt’s women’s fiction novel, Switch-A-Wish, is an entertaining romantic comedy about a married couple who have a chance to rekindle their love and passion when they get to walk the proverbial mile in each other’s shoes. Amanda’s reactions to the men’s rooms she’s compelled to use while inhabiting Chris’ body are hilarious, and their children’s reactions to a mom who seems just a little bit different are poignant. This is a well-written and wryly humorous story that focuses on the stresses and strains of child rearing on even the strongest relationships. Earnheardt’s characters are well-developed and authentic; however, I did seriously question Amanda’s sanity at pushing for a fourth child with an infant and two young children already putting such a strain on her married and personal life while considering divorce as an alternative option at the same time. Switch-A-Wish is recommended women's fiction.

Real life often gets in the way of real love and Switch-A-Wish by M.B. Earnheardt offers a quirky, unique look at one couple ‘solving’ the problem. Amanda is at the end of her tether with the responsibility of raising three small children, maintaining a home, caring for her mother-in-law and being there for her husband. Chris is also not happy with the way things are and does not understand why Amanda has become so bitter, nearly frigid and totally unhappy. To say there is no communication between them is an understatement. One night, a strange wish they both happen to make while they are tucking their girls in for the night results in them switching bodies. For three days, they get to experience what each other has to put up with and this leads to some humorous as well as hurtful revelations. It also gets dangerously close to uncovering a secret Chris never wants his wife to find out. Will the switch bring them closer together to repair what they had lost or will their relationship collapse completely?

For anyone interested in dissecting the failure of a marriage, this is the perfect book. Switch-A-Wish takes a hard look at the problems that arise when communication fails. Neither party is right or wrong, but the choices that are made based on hurt feelings and misunderstandings can have a devastating effect. M.B. Earnheardt uses laser vision to cut through each character’s thoughts, actions and feelings, and offers a wonderful examination of the roles we play in our relationships. Switch-A-Wish is a great read because it does address what almost every relationship faces at some point and to some degree.

In a highly engaging and entertaining read by debut fiction novelist M.B. Earnheardt, Switch-A-Wish is a novel that most readers will not be able to put down once they pick it up! Follow the story of Chris and Amanda Claridge, a couple that is probably like many out there. Seemingly happy on the outside, on the inside of their relationship, they're headed for disaster. Chris, the handsome college professor, and Amanda, the lovely stay at home mom and wife, are secretly seething at each other, frustrated with their own roles and the seeming insensitivities of the other. But when a magical wish is granted, and they are able to truly live as the other, their lives and the way that they look at each other will be changed forever.

Reminiscent of the Disney film "Freaky Friday," author M.B. Earnheardt takes the idea of living in someone else's shoes quite literally in Switch-A-Wish. And isn't that secretly what many have wished for their spouses, for them to to see "just what I go through in a a day?" I think we have. M.B. Earnheardt has done a great job in writing a book that is fun and funny, but poignant and touching as well. Her readers will connect with, relate to, and care about her characters, and if that isn't the hallmark of a great author, I'm not sure what is. I very much enjoyed Switch-A-Wish, and can wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone who loves a great read. I certainly hope that author M.B. Earnheardt will continue her work in this vein. Her talent shines through, and her work is so promising that she will not remain an undiscovered treasure for long!
