Author Biography

John Early is based out of his hometown Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. However, his world travels, like his writing and projects in life, always define new territory. Some of the roles John has taken on include emceeing major music festivals, national tour manager for Nintendo, entertaining on cruise ships in the Caribbean, touring on the 2010 Olympic Torch Relay across Canada, and managing adventure travel tours in Asia and Central America. From Bangkok to Zapopan, a journal and his lactose-intolerant guitar, Norma, have always been at hand. John's formal education consists of a Bachelor of Commerce in Marketing and Management at the University of Saskatchewan and ESC Rouen, France. Since then, it has been John’s decade of globe trotting and the people he’s encountered through which he has found his real education and reason to smile in life. This is his first book. Tales of the Modern Nomad: Monks, Mushrooms & Other Misadventures by John Early is a gorgeous and delightful collection of travel stories, exciting memories, and life-changing encounters. In this collection, the expert backpacker and travel host takes readers on a boisterous ride across countries, cities, and cultures, unveiling the thrills and perils of travel. In a light, humorous, and irresistible voice, he explores the obvious places any traveler would love to visit, takes risks in strange and dangerous places, and explores regions flourishing with spirituality and humanity. The stories are both entertaining and enlightening, laced with manifold lessons for readers who want to travel for leisure or to discover their path by exploring new places and witnessing new ways of life and cultures.

John Early’s book was an exquisite delight to read and he offers beautiful and inspiring images through his descriptive prose.
