That Witch by Courtney Hanks is a magical book for children. The story is based on a lonely witch who is set in her ways. One day the witch creates a potion that draws other magical beings to her house, and she happily invites them in, feeling glad she isn't alone anymore. After a while, the magical beings begin to annoy the witch and, one by one, she gives them a choice to either stop their annoying behavior or leave! The creatures of the night decide to leave and refuse to change their ways just because the witch doesn't like them that way. The witch soon becomes lonely once again, even lonelier than ever before, and regrets her unkindness to her new friends. She desperately wants them back, so she seeks them out in the forest. Luckily the magical creatures accept the witch's apology and agree to move back in, so they can shake their spooky butts to music once again! Will you learn the important lesson of kindness after reading this book? Pick up a copy to find out.

Author Courtney Hanks is an excellent storyteller. In That Witch, you will learn the importance of simply being kind to others, and not changing the things that make them who they are. The story of the witch is entertaining and you empathize with each of the characters after she is unkind to them, which to me is a sign of a good writer. The layout of the book is creative and I loved the illustrations; the spooky ghosts were my favorite! If you wish to both entertain and educate your child then I suggest buying a copy of this wonderful book. Courtney Hanks is talented and I hope to read further books from her. Good luck, Courtney, in your writing!
