Pete, a nine-year-old boy, a Monkey, a Puppy, and a Lion are the main characters in The Absurd Adventures of Monkey, Puppy, and Lion: The Day of the Flying Pot Roast by Nick Stockton. They live in Washington D.C. Pete is intelligent and has a vivid imagination. His older sister, Lizzy, and his parents live with him in the house. His sister annoys him all the time and though there are people around him, Pete feels lonely at times. There is a Monkey, a Puppy, and a Lion living in his tree house. Pete can talk to the Monkey all day, he finds the Puppy cute, and the Lion is the most cautious among the three. The book is about the adventures of these three animals when Pete is in school, Dad is at work, and Mum and Sister are out. Read the story to learn more about these three animals who try to live like human beings!

It is a fun read and will make the children laugh. The best scene of the book is where the Lion gets the smell of pot roast and feels like eating meat. What happens next is hilarious. It is a good bedtime read and it is the kind of story children would love to listen to before going to sleep. Teachers and educators can use it for interactive sessions in classrooms and school libraries and make children laugh at the antics of Lion, Puppy, and Monkey. It is a lighthearted, short and simple story that will keep the children glued till the end to find out what happens when these three animals try to behave like humans.
