The Adept by M.M. Bygrove is a mystical short story about a young Adept and his aspirations. Alios is an Adept at the Alchemist Academy. One day, as Alios is transcribing a copy of the Emerald Tablet for his students, he makes a startling discovery. With this revelation, Alios realizes that he now has the potential to formulate a very powerful energy that can alter matter. Once he understands how to utilize it, he should be able to transmute stones into gold and live a life of immortality. Alios searches all the ancient texts, looking for confirmation. This new found information has the possibilities to change the course of his life. He labors to attain results and harness this power to achieve his dreams. What actions will he take and what will be the consequences of his actions? As he seeks to obtain a more desirable lifestyle, will Alios's desire propel him forward to his ultimate goal or will it hinder him?

The Adept by M.M. Bygrove is a fascinating tale about a young Adept and his search for the key to the Philosopher's Stone's power. Being a kitchen boy, the son of a cook and an unknown father, Alios is self-absorbed and resents the higher born noblemen that he teaches and works beside. Master Lothar is Alios's Master and is a nobleman with a benevolent and generous nature. I could not comprehend how Alios caught his Master's eye in the first place, and I wondered if Master Lothar's affection had not been misplaced. Despite Alios's obsession and lack of personal charisma, his Master is fond of him and is thrilled to help him. The story of Alios and Master Lothar comes to a surprising conclusion that leaves the reader reeling. This is an interesting story. I am fascinated with the premise of this short story and found the information that it contains to be exciting and informative, and I believe that this absorbing narrative will enthrall those who are fans of mysticism.
