Author Biography

Tammi Croteau Keen is an author, poet, and advocate for inclusion, acceptance, and kindness. She strives to tell stories that illustrate the many ways in which we are all more alike than different, and that illuminate the "kind" in "humankind."

Misty Marksberry Merideth is a mom to 10 children, two by birth and 8 by adoption, including Liam and his sister Anastayja, who are now together in Heaven. Misty always dreamed of having a large family, and she found her passion in adopting children with special needs and terminal illnesses like Liam, who joined her family at the age of four months. His adoption was expedited so that he could be a part of his forever family in the short time he lived. From his crazy hair to his smile that could melt any heart, Liam was meant to be a Merideth.
It is Misty’s hope that Liam’s story will encourage others to consider becoming foster or adoptive parents to children with terminal conditions. Lives like Liam’s hold special meaning and purpose, no matter how short they may be.

Meet Liam the superhero who came to stay with the Merideth family. Though Liam was a sickly child, he had a strong spirit especially when he wore his red cape. He couldn't run fast or jump high. His lungs were weak and everyone had to be careful when they played with him. He had to take big deep breaths and a tube called a trach and a machine called a vent gave him that extra air. There was a button in his tummy that hooked up to all the tubes that gave him his meals. Though the Merideth family was scared initially, once they got to know how the tubes worked they weren't scared. They loved Liam just the way he was. Though Liam could not speak, love was his superpower. The Merideth family knew Liam wouldn't live long and so they decided to make every moment with him an adventure fit for a superhero. Let's read more about Liam's adventures.
