The Amazing Adventures of 4¢ Ned by Benjamin Laskin is Book One of the Coinworld series. Ned Nickel is missing a penny and none of the other coins want anything to do with him. The future of money is looking pretty darned worthless right now but the unlikely Ned, actually a very valuable coin, is about to save the day. But he can't do it alone. Fate has pushed Ned to nestle beside Chief Iron Tail, an Indian nickel that reveals Ned’s destiny to him. Together with a Wheat penny, Ned and the Chief set off to change the future and become the heroes of Coinworld and the champions of all the small change in the world. Along the way, Ned must hide from the collectors who want him while trying to find Franny, a Peace Dollar and the love of his life.
The Amazing Adventures of 4¢ Ned (Coinworld: Book One) by Benjamin Laskin is a humorous tale, something quite unique and extraordinary. I can honestly say that I have never in my long reading life come across another book quite like it. Mr. Laskin has the knack of bringing inanimate objects to life, of giving them their own personalities and making you believe that, yes, coins do have a life of their own! This is one of those stories that you just can't help but be drawn into; it’s fun, it’s an escape from reality and it’s a tale of self-fulfillment of finding out what your true purpose in life is. Trust me when I say that you will look at the coins in your pocket in a completely different light after reading this!
