The Beast Within by Liz Cowan is a wonderful rendition of Beauty and the Beast. This is a second such novel that I have read and this one is by far the more modern and approachable story line. It is more believable and enjoyable because it is relatable. I loved the relationship between the proverbial beauty and the beast and how their relationship was nurtured and became amazing with time and patience. Just like the original story, the intensity and the chemistry between the two main characters is simply amazing and breathtaking. I don’t remember ever enjoying a novel based on Beauty and the Beast as much as I enjoyed this one.

This is the story of two lost souls who are trying to find a place to belong and someone to belong to. Crystal Belle St. James is not an ordinary woman; she spends her days at a demanding job while her nights are spent taking care of her ailing parents. There is no time for herself in between and she knows that if she wants to have a chance at love, she will have to think out of the box. Daniel Di Domenico is not a man of many words and he likes to keep to himself. He too wants to find someone to spend his life with, but he has Bell’s palsy and he believes no one can love him. Blindfold, Inc. is a dating company that provides an opportunity for both of them to find love where they thought they might never get it. Can they take a chance on each other? Can they take a chance on love?

The story is breathtakingly amazing. The two main characters have their heartbreaking stories that add so much to the overall story line. Their development is beautiful. They started from living for others and loving others to loving themselves and living for themselves first before falling in love with the love of their life. The premise of the story, the flow of the story, and the overall attempt at recreating the magic of Beauty and the Beast is simply too potent to ignore. Absolutely beautiful, even the cover!
