The Bible-Time Nursery Rhyme Book was originally published in 1981. Its author and illustrator, Emily Hunter, passed away in 2012, but her delightful book of bible stories written in nursery rhyme style lives on. Ms. Hunter has left nothing out: from Adam and Eve to Noah, Joseph, Moses, and David, on through to Jesus and The First Glad Easter. Each bible story is retold in rhyme - accurately and entertainingly. Tucked in between the stories of the people we know and love, are important truths and life lessons from God’s word such as “Love One Another”, “Say You Are Sorry”, “When I’m Sick”, and “Selfish Sue”. Each rhyme is backed by scripture.

The Bible-Time Nursery Rhyme Book is beautifully bound and full of adorable illustrations, some black & white and some in vibrant watercolors. I was impressed to find that Ms. Hunter was also the illustrator. There is so much for little ones to see on each page. These rhyming stories will stick with your children far longer than simply reading scripture aloud. There are also fun games to play like the “Naming Game” in which children can guess the names that Adam gave each animal: “My tail is curly…nose, a snout. I’m smooth and round and big. Adam took one look at me and said, ‘I name you ____ (pig).’”

The Deluxe Gift Edition of The Bible-Time Nursery Rhyme Book is a gift that will continue to enchant. Consider it for baby showers or for young children just starting preschool or kindergarten. It is a treasure certain to be passed down from generation to generation.
