Author Biography

Katy Berritt started writing, a historical with herself as the heroine, when she was nine years old. Since there were no word processors then, all she got for her efforts was forty hand-written pages and a blister on her middle finger.

Working in the financial industry, a field not known for its sense of humor, she loves writing stories with a humorous slant that feature not-so-perfect heroes, quirky heroines and bizarre relatives.

Katy lives in New York City, a city rich in history, eccentric residents and fantastic neighborhoods, a treasure trove to draw upon when writing.

Fred Jones is the owner of Contessa Chocolates, the subject of The Candy Capers by Katy Berritt. Fred has been married to and divorced from five different women. Candace McCready, the daughter of his second wife, has been learning all about the business from Fred and truly loves him as a father. After disowning his only son, Gabe, Fred had promised Candace that he would leave the business to her in his will, which he didn’t. He left her The Recipe. The business he left to his son. Candace was the one who discovered his body. He was murdered. And The Recipe is gone! Now Gabe Jones is also back in the picture. Gabe and Candace had a summer fling ten years ago. They try to deny it but it seems both still strongly want the other. Could they make it work this time while trying to find the murderer as well as the missing recipe?

When you find a romantic comedy that is hard to put down, you can be assured that you have found an author with a rare talent. The Candy Capers ticks all the right boxes. Romance, mystery, action, strong characters, and a lot of deception. Katy Berritt had me on the edge of my seat with just enough information to keep me guessing right until the end. With a cast of unique characters, growth was more evident with our hero and heroine. The author has a comfortable style of writing that flows from one page to the next. I would definitely not recommend this book to younger readers due to the mature content of some of the scenes.
