Author Biography

With a last name like Noel, you know that I enjoy Christmas! I am a retired teacher who enjoyed reading books like Harry Potter and Percy Jackson with my students. These were exciting, well-written books but lacked any kind of a Christian perspective. As a Christian, this was a problem for me. I wanted to give young readers an exciting series of adventure books that also had a Christian worldview. Thus was born "The Centurions" series, books set in the age of knights and shieldmaidens with dragons, werewolves, and other magical creatures on the prowl, where problems of faith, as well as courage, must be faced.

Brendan, a thief with "unusual talents", is introduced to a noble cause and the home he is missing: a Christian military group known as the Order of the Centurion that seeks to protect Christendom from all external threats. Portia is a self-doubting, but courageous handmaiden training to become a shieldmaiden (the female version of a knight). They find themselves on a rescue mission that leads them to the trap of the black dragon. They must defeat the black dragon, along with ice-breathing wolves, magical creatures, looting Vikings, and other evil forces. They hope their faith in God will overcome their fears and their conflicting emotions in order to carry out their predestined mission. Set in 946 A.D., The Centurions: The Dragon's Prophecy by David Noel is a heart-racing, action-filled, historical gem.

Who needs time machines when books like The Centurions get you so absorbed in a different age it's like you're actually there? The Dragon's Prophecy is a depiction of a magical world, with knights and castles and mythical beings that sent a chill down my spine and had me looking up from my book from time to time to make sure they hadn't jumped out of the pages. David Noel knows his dragons well, with each of their unique abilities and characters that felt surprisingly real and are not so easy to forget. The combination of key teachings of Christianity and a captivating, well-told story is brilliantly executed. The first book in The Centurions series has completely won me over, and I am very much looking forward to reading subsequent books in the series.
