The Christmas Cat by Peter Scottsdale is a heartwarming short story. When Fred finds a kitten on his doorstep on a cold Christmas Eve, he decides to take her in. The presence of the cat then reminds him that he does not need to be alone, especially at Christmas.

Peter Scottsdale made me have “the feels” with this story. Just because Fred rescued the cat from the cold, he has forever won a place in my heart. There was so much I liked about The Christmas Cat. I loved that there was no negativity in the story. When Fred went out in the cold to purchase items for the cat, I was expecting him to be robbed or something. I kept waiting for something bad to happen but it never came. When the cat was grooming Fred, it brought back memories of when my cat used to do the same to me. This little detail in the story made the story come alive for me. I also loved the ending to the story. It was absolutely perfect and left me with a warm fuzzy feeling.

Peter Scottsdale has written a great little story. The Christmas Cat would even melt the Grinch’s heart. You do not have to like Christmas to read this story. You do not even have to like cats. This is just a great story to read if you have a heart. I hope to read more of Scottsdale’s work soon.
