The Dog Who Had a Party by I-J Letters is a fun picture book for young children. Dog woke up one day feeling even more excited than usual, and he could not imagine why. Suddenly Dog remembered that it was his birthday. Whilst playing in the garden, Dog was approached by his friend Beagle, who brought him a present on this special day. Dog unwrapped the package and was excited to see that it was a ball. He was grateful to his friend for giving him such a perfect gift. After playing with the ball for a while, Beagle asked Dog lots of questions about his birthday, one of which was whether he was having a party. Dog thought that a party was a great idea and excitedly sent his friend Pigeon to deliver the invitations. All except one of his friends accepted. Who do you think the stubborn friend is and what other gifts do you think Dog will receive?

The Dog Who Had a Party is an enjoyable book. The storyline is adorable and children are going to love reading it. They will be entertained throughout and they will like the illustrations by the talented Ian R. Ward as these are attractive and professional. The story reads smoothly. I appreciated that the author included some questions at the end for children to answer, as well as a picture of Dog and Beagle that they can color in. I love books aimed at children that teach an important lesson, and this book has a wholesome message that I'll let the young reader discover for themselves. I recommend this book to anyone with children; maybe they’re planning a party too. Congrats on the book, I-J Letters, I'm sure the book will be successful.
