The Enigma Dragon: A CATS Tale by Charles Breakfield and Roxanne Burkey is the ninth book in the Enigma series. The oil shipping business ePETRO is run by Mike and Marge who have ulterior motives for their current sales. While Marge arranges plans to sell uranium and illegally obtained oil, Mike plots for ways to solely benefit from the profits. The Cyber Assassin Technology Services (CATS) is on the case as Juan and Julie Rodriguez send their team to investigate globally. Ernesto and Tyler are on a mission in Washington DC while George and Summit travel across Asia, and Mercedes and Brayson make their way to Panama. Newcomer Jamie is quickly pulled into the team while Juan and Quip turn to Quip's supercomputer ICABOD to monitor everyone's location. Can the team put an end to the threat before it's too late?

Breakfield and Burkey deliver a high tech thriller based in a realistic setting. There are several characters to follow as the scenes flip around to various perspectives, with each having a variety of personalities that work together to tell a well-rounded story. It's easy to develop an emotional attachment to the CATS team as each one is well-developed, understandable, and grounded. While the team is investigating and dealing with threats, they're also dealing with personal lives, relationships, and past tragedies. Humor is heavily incorporated into the story through the characters' clever banter which makes the team feel like a family.

The relationships between men and women carry throughout the story with an interesting balance between the loving and passionate couples in the CATS team, and the sexism with the characters tied to ePETRO. It's interesting to see the two main couples Juan and Julie, and Quip and EZ working this high risk job, but also maintaining normal and grounded personal relationships. These relationships make them feel more realistic as they balance their normal lives with the extraordinary and dangerous job to protect the country. The Enigma Dragon is a thrilling read with a gritty and techno modern tone, gripping characters, and suspense.

The Enigma Dragon: A CATS Tale by Charles Breakfield and Roxanne Burkey is book 9 of the Enigma Series. The CATS (Cyber Assassin Technology Services) team has got just one goal in mind right now – to find out where North Korea is getting their deadly missiles from. And how are the terrorists, there for all to see, managing to stay hidden? Using analog methods with publicly available technology, they believe that they can go undetected. They didn’t reckon on CATS though. Across 12 cities and four separate continents, the CATS team spreads out to catch the mules, uncovering secrets and threats everywhere they go. If the CATS team can’t succeed, can’t bring the enemy down, then the world is in the most terrible danger.

The Enigma Dragon: A CATS Tale by Charles Breakfield and Roxanne Burkey is an interesting read, opening a literary can of worms in terms of the links between technology and terrorism. The story is packed with danger at every turn, action all the way, and a little bit of romance thrown in to temper the background stories. While this is fiction, there is a little bit of truth, an iota of current world events mixed in just to give it that air of reality and the very real feeling that you could be reading a true account and not a fictional tale. This a twisty book, full of surprising turns, and there is no way to work out what is going to happen. Skillfully written, this book will keep you guessing all the way as masterfully developed characters each tell their own story while melding with one another. This is book 9 and I have not read any of the others, but I found each of the characters sufficiently developed that I don’t feel I missed anything. A frightening tale, made all the more so by the fact that it could be happening now. I would recommend this to fans of sci-fi and general thrillers.

The Enigma Dragon: A CATS Tale by Roxanne E. Burkey and Charles V. Breakfield is a compelling read that follows a gritty investigation to uncover a world of crime, black market, greed, and terrorism. The bad guys involved in the black internet market thought they were off the grid, but the Cyber Assassin Technology Services (CATS) monitors everything and they are about to orchestrate a crackdown that will create waves across the globe. Follow operatives Juan and Julie Rodríguez on a perilous journey to fight crime. With a cast of compelling characters, including the unscrupulous oil business operators, Marge and Mike, and the CAT operatives in Asia, Panama and other locations across the globe, can the cyber detectives stop the most gruesome crimes from taking place?

This is a well-written thriller with a lot of action to make the reader dizzy. There is so much to take in, and a lot of technical language that would sit well with cyber buffs. Apart from that, this is a great story with awesome characters, one of those books that will definitely create the awareness that readers need about cyber crime. The characters are real and readers won’t find it hard relating to them. There were moments when it felt like I was watching a movie, and yes, the scenes are focused and written to have that cinematic effect on readers. The writing also stands out, enriched by the powerful dialogues and strong descriptions. The Enigma Dragon: A CATS Tale is engaging, with a plot that is original and characters that are well-developed and memorable. It’s an interesting, gripping read.
