A young black man must do what it takes to protect his family and make a stand for what he feels is right in the thrilling novel, The Fight for Political Power (Mirrors of Life: Part 2) by Neal Owens. The political climate intensifies as successful venture capitalist Derrick Williams joins the battle against a growing threat in the White House. The newest President is showing signs that he has a secret agenda. He is nothing but a puppet as the man behind the President prepares to raise a Fourth Reich. After the newest President of the United States is announced, many feel the fight for their freedom has ended. Yvonne, Derrick's mom, has other ideas. Encouraging her son to push forward, she and Derrick decide that the fight isn't over; it's just beginning. While Yvonne travels the country encouraging lesser-inclined constituents to vote and become aware of the importance of voting, Derrick takes a different approach. Fighting to remain clear of scandal and lead a healthy life with his new wife, Derrick struggles against the many temptations and threats thrown in his direction. Now, more than his reputation is on the line and in the spotlight. With pressure growing and the danger increasing, can Derrick maintain his faith through all the chaos? Will he lose everything to the hidden enemy?

With Christian family values at the core of the story, The Fight For Political Power by Neal Owens is inspiring and encouraging. It has an intriguing plot and well-developed characters. The novel begins amid murder and only increases in excitement from there. The many plot twists and constantly growing stakes pull the listener into the exciting world of politics, where lies, manipulation, and mud-slinging are the norm. Using Derrick and Yvonne as examples, the story gives one hope for the future of our country. I appreciated how the characters learn to address their problems using their faith in God and prayer. I recommend this book to those that enjoy political thrillers with a solid Christian foundation. Narrator Charles Gray's refined, smooth-sounding voice embodies the characters beautifully as he reads at a steady pace. I am impressed with his ability to read the female characters so well; the story seems to come to life through his powerful voice.
