"The Five Musical Instruments" was written by Alyssa Pinto. This book was created as a pop up book for children. The design and layout of the book is beautiful. The silly but creative drawings go along with the story. It is the story of five instruments that are in search of new homes and owners when they are all thrown out of their previous homes and lives. The drawings, similar to what an average child aged 2-5 might draw, make the book more interesting for its targeted reading group. The idea to have the illustrations drawn or created as a child would have done was a brilliant move. They allow for the young reader to become more comfortable with the book and the idea of reading as they are fun and exciting.

The story line in my opinion as its own message within it as well. Grown ups sometimes throw things out that kids might like to have and use. A lesson of recycling and giving can be associated with this story. The instruments getting on planes and traveling allows for the young mind to venture into an imaginative state when reading, which is an important part of a child's development. "The Five Musical Instruments" is a very cute, interesting, and adventurous story for a young child to read or have read to them. I read this story to my 2 year old and 5 year old. They giggled and smiled with excitement as they loved that the instruments got on an airplane. The pictures excited them the most. After reading this book to them, they both wanted to draw their own silly pictures. This book is a great imaginative story I believe all children will love and enjoy.
