The Galloping Pony: A Tale of Hopes and Dreams by Angharad Thompson Rees is the second book in the Magical Adventures and Pony Tales series. A foal born on a struggling farm has big warm eyes and limbs too stocky to be called elegant. The farmer loved the young foal’s warm spirit and named him Warmheart. As the pony grew, he made friends with all the other animals and spent his days racing all over the farm with the farm dog, Bob. When racehorses move in next door, Warmheart wants nothing more than to race with them, but after his friends are sold, Warmheart discovers that they’re in danger of losing the farm. The owner of the racehorses is waiting for the moment when he can swoop in and take the farm out from under them. Now it’s up to Warmheart to beat the racehorses in a race. If he wins, the farm is saved, but if he loses, they lose everything.
Angharad Thompson Rees delivers a sweet story about a resilient pony that children will love! All horse-crazy children will immediately fall in love with Warmheart and become inspired by his journey to become a racehorse. Rees focuses on the theme of pursuing dreams and believing in yourself, which is at the center of Warmheart’s story. This is a warm and endearing tale that’s about perseverance and triumphing against the perception of others. The core relationship is between Warmheart and the farmer with the two sharing a sweet bond that’s rooted in the good heart that the two share and the belief they have in each other. The belief that the farmer has in Warmheart is what gives him the confidence to give it his all and shows the strength that friendship can provide. The Galloping Pony has a guaranteed happy ending as Rees brings to life this heartwarming tale about a pony that loves to run and the race that could save a farm.
