The story about little Alessandra is really heartwarming and the glimpse into the life and times of her great-great grandmother is quite enthralling. Not only does the story send out a strong message about taking pride in our roots and who we are, it also includes lessons on helping with chores, respecting your elders, hard work, family ties, cleanliness, etc., in a subtle way. With nice illustrations by Danuta Zamojska Hutchins, which children will enjoy looking at while they read the story, "The Girl Who Did Not Like Her Name" by Chloe Jon Paul is a lovely book to read to your children. The bonus recipe and trivia about names at the end of the book is interesting and adds a touch of panache to the book.
