The Hand of Faith Story by author Bep Hillier is a journal-like book depicting the incredible tale of the largest gold nugget in existence, found in Australia by Kevin and Bep Hillier. The story begins with Kevin and Bep’s travels in a mobile home with their children, and how they ended up in many locations in Australia. Times were difficult — the couple dealt with a new location, money issues, finding work, and Kevin’s back injury. But they kept their faith in God, and after a prayer, Kevin received a message through a dream. He dreamt of a nugget and soon after, while walking with a metal detector, he found a huge gold nugget! After learning the gold nugget was 27 kilograms (and acquiring the name: The Hand of Faith), the couple went on a quest to find a buyer while attempting to dodge media attention. Now, the gold nugget has found a home at the Golden Nugget Casino in Las Vegas.

The story ends on both a sad note and a happy note. Author Bep Hillier tells her tale through a nostalgic look back, and ends with where she is now. I was personally touched by the underlying theme of her faith in God throughout the story, her love of her family, her willingness to let go and let God, and of course the dream of the gold nugget. The dream itself was interesting and thought-provoking. Also enjoyable were the many photos in the book. I appreciated this incredible tale and recommend The Hand of Faith Story to those interested in first-hand accounts of what can only be described as a miracle.
