The Hare Who Wanted to Be a Falcon, a WantsToBe Book by Valerie Harmon features a young hare who is not content with being a hare and instead wants to be a falcon and fly. When she gets scooped up by the falcon and almost eaten, she surprises the falcon by asking how she can be like him. Curious, the falcon releases the hare and tells her about all the things he does as a falcon, and if she wants to be like him then she must do them too. She goes through each of the tasks and succeeds in each one, much to the falcon's surprise. In the end, she earns her wings and is able to fly with the falcon.

Valerie Harmon has created an interesting concept in The Hare Who Wanted to Be a Falcon: A WantsToBe Book. Most stories like this have the main character wanting to be something else, then finally coming to the conclusion that they are fine the way they are. The hare in this book, however, achieved her goal because she was willing to put everything into it and follow the falcon's advice. I guess the moral of this story is that if you want something badly enough, no matter how impossible it may seem, then you can get it if you are willing to put in the hard work. I think the illustrations added to the story and I think that kids would enjoy it. Hare was brave and this will teach kids to be brave too.
