Karleen has written a great book that will enthrall any fan of ghost stories. Her writing is fluid and descriptive. It is easy to read and understand. The story is well put together, with characters any pre-teen will easily identify with.

Alison’s father, Mr. Evans, decides that this is the summer he will work on the book that is going to make them rich. A lost grandaunt has died and left a quaint house to Alison’s father. He is determined to use this Welsh environment’s influence to finish his book.

Alison is assigned kitchen duty for the summer. But soon she sees the house and wonders what the rest of her summer will be like. The house is in the edge of a cliff that stops the sea from coming ashore.

The two go exploring and meet the town librarian who happens to be very good looking. She had to come back home to take care of her grandmother and her much younger brother Gareth. Thus she became the town librarian. When Mr. Evans meets her, it appears that he fancies her. Alison is livid at the prospect of her father being interested in another woman. To make matters worse, she discovers that her new house is haunted by a girl of about her own age. Bronwen is the ghost, who lived in the same house and she had almost the same problems Alison has now with her father.

This is a great book, clean and wholesome. I recommend it to pre-teens and up. You will enjoy this story and the writing style of the author.
