The Guardians of Time know knew something was not right. They wandered around the Renaissance Fair, looking for their assignment. Twenty-seven-year-old Sylvia was at the constant beck and call of her mother. She wanted a life of her own. She wanted to make her own decisions. She was walking through the fair and once again heard her mother’s screeching voice calling her name. She and Aubrey cared deeply for each other, but her mother always seemed to get in the way. The Guardians suspected this was the problem they needed to fix.

In the past, Aubrey was a widower left to raise a young son. He had been gone from home for over twenty years. Few recognized him when he returned home. Lady Sylvia had been a widow for 5 years. Her oldest daughter was well married. It was time to answer the summons of King John. When she arrived at court, she discovered King John planned to make her the prize at the Knight’s contest.
Rarely does one have the opportunity to regain lost love. The Heart Remembers is the tale of two lovers offered the opportunity to regain what they lost. I could not put this book down. The laundry and housework had to wait as did other work. I was so wrapped up in the love between Aubrey and Sylvia that I had to read this book in one sitting. Marissa St. James is a talented author capable of transporting her readers back in time.
