Author Biography

Venus Morales, is a mother of three wonderful boys, and is married to a very patient husband. Her life hasn't always been peachy, in fact, it was the opposite. She was raised in the Boston, Ma, by her grandmother, where she lived on a four block radius her entire childhood. Her local public library is where she discovered the love for books. The more she read, the more of an urge to write grew within her.

One day, she expressed her love for writing to her teachers, and sadly was discouraged and crushed by the very teachers she trusted. They told her there was very little possibilities for Latino's like herself to make it in the writing industry, let alone she was a female, so she stopped writing.

Years later, her husband told her, "I know you still love to write, and you miss it. If you want to write, so write. Don't do it for me, not for our boys, or anyone else. Don't write to get everyone's approval, what matters is that writing makes you happy." She said his words struck her like lighting as something inside her snapped, and she began to write again, only this time her confidence was solid, thus came," The Hybrid.

The Hybrid (Book one in The Hybrid Series) by Venus Morales is a thrilling YA fantasy supernatural read! The story follows a strong-willed and likeable heroine named Ari (daughter of Ares, the god of war). Ari spends much of her life in secret and, upon her 18th birthday, she is allowed to venture into the mortal world. She meets an intriguing archangel named Julius, who is much more than he initially seems. Ari’s had other things to worry about though, as her inner darkness is continually struggling to take over. Over the course of this exhilarating story, Ari must fight and resist her inner demons, try to figure out what Julius is really up to, uncover dark secrets about her past, as well as prepare for the seven days of trials in order to claim her rightful crown. Whew! Good thing Ari is a kick-butt, strong willed, never-back-down type of girl, otherwise achieving all that might be hard.

I found The Hybrid to be an exciting and action-packed story. Ari is a likeable and realistic protagonist. I really enjoyed her relationship with her best friend (their banter was realistic and hilarious at times) and her interactions with Julius were always a treat to read. The author’s overall idea (the daughter of the god of war) was a unique take in an over-saturated supernatural genre book market. The book features a strong and engaging cast of characters, and the author’s descriptions of the surrounding world and settings really draw the reader in. Fans of YA, paranormal, supernatural and action genres are sure to find a new favorite author in Venus Morales.
