The Iran Contradictions by James A. Scott is a political thriller set against the backdrop of the politically turbulent landscapes of the 1980s. A group of a select, chosen few, known as The Seven, are poised for action. These plotters have a closely guarded secret. Now, a man who knows this secret is being held in captivity in Beirut and tortured. If he lets the secret out, the negotiations between the American and Vietnamese governments could go awry and a chain of disruptive incidents could occur, including trouble in the White House and a powerful conglomerate sinking. The Seven must free the hostage and prevent the truth from getting out. But can they succeed with investigators closing in on the White House?

James A. Scott has crafted a political thriller of great complexity and magnitude, with a setting that features exciting locales and breathtaking places, including the White House, the French Riviera, Beirut, and others. The political setting is brilliantly imagined to awaken thoughts of Vietnam in the minds of readers. The characters are extraordinary and the cast includes ex-CIA operatives Donna Goodwin and Ed Holloway, bankers, Pentagon agents, the FBI, CIA, and the Vietnam intelligence. The writing is stellar and readers will enjoy how the author excites the curiosity of his readers by creating dramatic scenes, skillfully weaving suspense into the narrative, and masterfully building dialogues that are compelling and exciting. The Iran Contradictions stands out with its sophisticated plot, its compelling characters, and its wonderful prose. I found it utterly riveting.
