I have lived most of my life in New England, but my heart will always remain in Vermont. I accomplished all that I wanted with in my career, but as my vocation, I love to write, and have been drafting short stories and poems from childhood. After taking early retirement, I put pen to paper and gave birth to the scrapes of stories and poems filed away. I've written several types of books. including childrens. My love of writing is a gift from my mother of whom wrote poetry. James Francis William Driscoll lived his life in the words of Frank Sinatra: “I did it my way.” The second to last child in a family of nine, James had a rough childhood that could have crippled him in many ways later in his life. His home environment formed the foundation of some of the principles that governed his life. James refused to drink alcohol, and he did not take his wife or children for granted because he did not want to repeat his father’s mistakes. The Legacy of James Driscoll by Bettie MacIntyre and James William Driscoll is the biographical account of James Driscoll and the Driscoll Family.
I loved The Legacy of James Driscoll by Bettie MacIntyre and James William Driscoll. At the beginning of the story, James's family situation had me in tears, but by the end of the book, I was happy for him. He found the love of his life and had the happiness that he deserved. James relates his passion for success and how he strived to get himself to a place where he could overcome all his adversities. James did not want to change the world. He just wanted to survive, and survive he did. He thrived so wonderfully despite the odds against him. Not only is this James's story, but it is also a record of the family legacy for future generations. He shows love for his siblings by including an account of their lives. I love and appreciate the work that Bettie and James put into this book. It is inspiring and I hope to read more collaborations.
