"Lemon Dot Town is happy to be surrounded by love by the Lemon Dot Tree." And the town loves it back. The mutual love and respect is taught here using simple terms geared towards young children. Lemon Dot Town lives by the action of treating everything around them with love and respect. Their life is a joyful one...that is until a pig named stingy moves into town. Stingy, a selfish individual to say the least, leads the community astray. The Lemon Dot Tree responds accordingly, which leaves the town residents in a less than joyful state! Sambino the frog takes a stand for his town and friends in order to turn things back to the way they were.

I loved this book! What a gift the author has for making such a tough topic so simple to understand! The illustrations follow the story pattern. They are concise, imaginative, light and fun. What a wonderful book this would be for schools, libraries, play groups and daycare centers. Library story time would be perfect for reading this to a group of children. There are also so many adults who could use the lessons contained inside the pages! The overall feel of this book is happy and educational. I found myself lingering at each page, re-reading the passage and enjoying the illustrations. The combination has a depth to it which is not apparent at first. I highly recommend this wonderful tale to readers wholeheartedly!

"The Lemon Dot Tree," written and illustrated by D.A. Schwartz, is the first book in a children's series to be enjoyed and to teach lessons at the same time. The animals living in Lemon Dot Town have a good life and follow the rules of living there. One day, Stingy arrived in town and lived by his own rules and tried to change how others thought and lived; after this life was no longer the same even for the Lemon Dot Tree which no longer grew. Sambino the Frog stood up to Stingy and helped the others get back on track and live according to the Lemon Tree Way so that life returns to good and normal.

This is a cute, rhyming story for children with a strong message presented throughout it! The story can be easily applied to children as a reminder to follow their hearts and the rules and what they know is right instead of following someone who may try to lead them astray even if they may be a new or "cool" addition to the group. The illustrations are simple and yet so well-done that they are perfect to go along with the words as the story and layout is so fresh, and straight-forward. The rhyming words flow so nicely and hold the attention of children well. I will be looking forward to further books in this series as I believe the animals will be ones that children will enjoy reading about and learning from.

“The Lemon Dot Tree” by D. A. Schwartz is a cute, colorful, simple rhyming book, catering to very young children who enjoy having a bedtime story read to them. More than just a meaningless collection of words that happen to rhyme, it teaches children to be considerate towards others and their environment. The colors are bright and vivid, sure to capture the attention of the youngest child. The sheer simplicity of the illustrations also seems likely to retain that attention.

This is a cute story. Everybody got along famously, until one dark day the selfish “Stingy” came to town. Stingy knocked over garbage cans, didn’t recycle, threw his trash on the ground and left it there, and generally made an obnoxious nuisance of himself. He was ruled by greed, and cared nothing for the consequences of his actions. Eventually the old Lemon Dot Tree died, and the town was, literally, turned on its head. Finally, Sambino the frog, with the support of Ro Ro, Penelope, and Penguin, confronted Stingy. Pledging to honor themselves, each other and their land, they agreed to cooperate in a spirit of love to change the “great land” where they lived. Once they returned to their former way of life (before Stingy corrupted everybody) a new Lemon Dot Tree began to grow! The only thing missing is, “And they all lived happily ever after!” Anybody with young children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, friends with new babies, etc., would welcome this addition to their child’s library.
