Poetry affects each reader differently; I think it depends on where you are in your life as to how you will react to a particular poem. The Light Within Our Shadowed Minds is a brilliant work of art. The author describes the circle of life: from the beginning at birth, through the growing up years, to marriage, children, and, finally, grandchildren. The circle is complete with an aged mind looking back on childhood. Within each chapter the author shares his thoughts on viewing the world through the eyes of a young child. The child considers his bookshelf to be a place where dreams can be fulfilled.

The author asked at the end, “Is this book worth reading?” I would say yes. It’s a book of poetry, prose, and thoughts; poems dealing with changes in a person’s life through events in time and conditions in life. This book should be read slowly, and the words savored. Great reflection may show the reader something about one's self.
