Sassyfrass was a happy little piggy who lived on a farm with her mother and siblings. Sassyfrass was very independent and bold, and began to lead the group of little pigs as they went about their daily routine. One day a strange man in a truck came and took them away from their mother, but this did not bother Sassyfrass as it did the others. Why? Because she was brave and had a plan. Despite all odds being against them, Sassyfrass manages to save them all from continuing the journey with the man and his truck. They all then begin a journey along the road, encountering other small animals in a similar situation to their own. Will Sassyfrass be able to help the other animals and small pigs find their way home?

The Little Piggy Who Could…and Did by Janet Feduska Cole and Andrew Jonathan Cole is a wonderful children's book, introducing young readers to the concepts of bravery, integrity, and perseverance. The book contains elegantly drawn illustrations contributing to a fun and exciting adventure story, teaching young readers that despite all obstacles thrown at you in life, if you are brave, believe in yourself, and have the will to succeed, you can. Children love animals, especially small animals. Being small in size makes them relate more to the characters because they themselves are small. The authors do an excellent job of allowing young readers to feel comfortable with the story, the elements, and the lesson and message being portrayed by using a brave, small pig as the main character, along with other small or young animals.
