When you think of a rainbow, what comes to mind? What does Earth mean to you? What is the significance of the sun? A rainbow is the result of several elements (including water and the sun) coming together, causing an array of light that illuminates the sky to form an arc of colors. In The Little Rainbow by Cassie Lloyd, Earth was feeling overwhelmed with rain flooding her; she felt that she would drown and wanted some relief. She prayed and prayed until one day she was blessed with a gift. The gift was the rainbow. The rainbow was God’s reminder that whenever Earth felt overwhelmed she could see the rainbow and be reminded that she was not alone and will never drown. But, in addition to the rainbow, later Earth was provided with another gift by God, the Sun. Earth was thankful for the Sun as well.

I found The Little Rainbow by Cassie Lloyd to be a great book, especially for young readers. Kids need a lot of educational material to help them in their development to become more well-rounded individuals. The Little Rainbow shows the importance of the Earth and gives a voice to it. It offers several types of lessons that can be beneficial to young readers because it shows the essence of Nature as well. It is important for young readers to know and understand the relationships between the Earth, Sun and Rainbow. Additionally, I like how Cassie showed the transition of the rainbow in the illustrations.
